The concert of the gPiano Quintet, Viennah was what their
fans had been looking forward to, with several people lining in front of the
reception desk an hour before 6 p.m. when
the doors were to be opened. The children Meguro UNESCO had invited
to commemorate its 50th anniversary came with their parents, and a
group of over fifty boys and girls of Gohongi Elementary School led by their
teacher were seated in the balcony, listening attentively to the players from
the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. As it was probably the first time for many
of those children to come to a classical music concert, they must have had a
valuable experience listening to the highest quality music.
The harmony of piano and strings sounded so pleasant that the time seemed to fly by. Their two encores also held the audience spellbound, and the concert ended much behind schedule. The autograph session in the foyer continued almost till 10 p.m., the time all persons were expected to vacate the hall, making the management quite anxious.
